Well, we just got back late tonight and it don't look good...
I was comin out of turn 4 side by side for the win, and I ran out of room. I mean I hit the wall.
I didn't think I hit it that hard, but it threw me back out into traffic, and that's where the trouble started. We are just too tired and run down to dig into it tonight. We'll take a look tomorrow.
Well, it's late in the afternoon, but let's see if we can get this unloaded and figure out what the damage is. Al, can you back it out and put it in here? I'll put it on stands...
Shoot... Bent shoes, bent torsion bars, stripped gears, broken brushes, hole in the oil pan...
Between all this and the body work, it might be time to retire this car...
Reminded me of 3of us in HS building a car to race on Saturday Nights. My buddy won the first heat and qualified for the main later that night. Unbeknownst to us, he had beaten one of the regular favorites. In the main, two of his buddies put our car OVER the wall. Took 2 wreckers to get it back on the trailer. We decided to go back to drag racing outside of city limits for money or bragging rights.
